Brazilian Beat

In hindsight, I probably should have dressed a bit more colorful for the occasion, but we didn't decide where we were going until the last minute. Most Sundays, Tomas and I make an effort to escape our barrio (we only have the opportunity to do this once a week) and go out on the town. You know, keep that spark alive! This was our first visit to Boteco do Brasil... As soon as you enter you just feel the good vibes...from the joyous music to the colorful ambience and the friendly staff. We drank a couple of yummy caipirinhas and ate some typical Brazilian tapas. As it turned out, Sunday nights are Samba Nights at Boteco de Brasil and they offer a free dance class! Tomas and I observed from afar, but I made a promise to myself that the next time we go to Boteco do Brasil, I'm going to dance. I figure it's about time I challenge myself to do something I'm not comfortable doing in front of a group of people. So, we shall see if I keep my promise! We also want to go back to have dinner because the food looked pretty amazing.

Now, on to my outfit...
I went for something pretty simple & super comfortable. A loose v-neck tee, a faux leather skirt (I bought the skirt in Spain, but have never really worn it much because it didn't fit properly. Well, recently I discovered the magic of bringing your clothes to the tailor, and now it fits perfectly!) and some white high-tops from H&M.

Whenever I wear a simple white sneaker, I feel like a Scandinavian girl. I remember when I lived in Spain, I would see girls from Scandinavian countries wearing fresh white sneakers with all of their outfits and they looked SUPER cool (shoutout to Sandra!). I wish I was from Scandinavia. Anyway, wearing these sneakers from H&M was my way to channel my inner Scandinavian self  ;-)

And how about my new bunny ears ring? I picked it up the day before (it's VERY rare that I go shopping here, but it was calling my name). I think it is so cute! And, surprisingly, it wasn't uncomfortable to wear considering it's interesting shape.

Wearing:
T-shirt - Gypsy Warrior
Skirt - Pull & Bear (Spain)
Sneakers - H&M (similar here)
Bag - Nasty Gal
Bunny Ring - Naked (Buenos Aires) Don't live in Buenos Aires? You can find one almost exactly the same on Etsy!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

    1. Thanks, Sarah! The samba music was really fun to listen to---it's so cheery and vibrant! We had a few tapas, but we want to go back to eat more of the typical Brazilian dishes!
We do not have H&M in Buenos Aires....The shopping scene in Buenos Aires is quite unfortunate, but my wallet is thankful for that, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise. (I got the sneakers when I was in the States over the holidays). xx

  4. I had some caipirinhas this weekend, too! Though from a splav (floating barge restaurant/bar) that was not Brazilian-themed, but I was in the mood!

    1. Yum! When you're in the mood, you're in the mood. You've gotta follow your heart haha They're a bit on the sweet side for me though, so I can only have one (I learned). They also had some flavored ones...next time I might try maracuya since I like anything maracuya flavored. xx

    1. Thanks, Leigh! I actually remember pretty much all the makeup I wore because I was really pleased with the final result. Lorac Pro 2 Palette on my eyes with Rimmel Eyeliner on the bottom lash line in Taupe and Perversion mascara from Urban Decay, NYX Mauve blush with Jouer Peony blush popped on over top and Shitake lipstick from MAC. I also used a beauty blender for the first time to blend my foundation that day and it was pretty amazing. All products I would recommend! Have you heard of Jouer cosmetics? I feel like you would like their products! I want more myself!

    1. Thank you! I know what you mean about trying certain styles....There are a lot of styles I like on other people, but know that that they aren't necessarily for me. You gotta do what works for you! It's fun to try out different things though, even if for one day, and then you can decide whether you like it for you or not! xx

    1. Thanks, Sanja! That's so awesome that you made that shawl yourself! I saw in the description that it said DIY, but I thought there's no way someone could have handmade that! That's such a cool talent to have! You should think about selling them...I know I would be a buyer :-D

I'm glad you discover the magic of tailoring ;) it really makes you look at the clothes in a whole different way when you go shopping! Being petite forced me to take many of my clothes to the tailor since I was a teenager so they could fit me properly (I call it 'Hobbit problems') and the difference was huge.
That place looks so much fun! And the drinks SO yummy indeed ;) Apparentely it was a lovely day for you two to relax and doing something fun <3

    1. Thanks, Deb! It was one of those outfits you put on and feel really good in!
And thank goodness for tailoring! All of my clothes have always been too long for me (I'm 5'1") and over the past couple of years I've lost some weight and didn't want to get rid of the clothes that were too big for me, so I took them to the tailor. I think it's much cheaper to get your clothes tailored here than in the US, so that works out well for me, too! Hobbit problems... haha that's so funny. How tall are you?

    1. Thanks, Rach! I've always loved the look of fresh white sneakers, but I get so paranoid about wearing them, especially with two dogs in the house! Actually, right before we went out that night, I got them dirty. Fortunately, they are washable! And, I'm kind of in love with the bunny ring :-)
