Makeup Geek "Vegas Lights" Palette

I had never heard of the brand, Makeup Geek, until I started watching Tati (from Glam Life Guru) on YouTube. She seems to constantly rave about their products, so I thought I'd give them a try. For a few months, I perused the Makeup Geek website but was unsure of what my first purchase should be. When they came out with their eye shadow palette, Vegas Lights, I knew that it was going to be the perfect first purchase. From what I had heard, the Makeup Geek eyeshadows were super pigmented & easy to blend, but the icing on the cake was the unique offering of colors in this palette. I have never really seen colors like these before, let alone all in one easy-to-use palette. Sometimes I don't even know where to start with eyeshadows...which colors blend together seamlessly, and where to apply them, so in my case, buying a palette takes care of those doubts. I couldn't be happier with the color payoff, the blend-ability, and the staying power! I applied my makeup at around 10am on this day (underneath the shadow I applied the Lorac "Behind the Scenes" Eye Primer), trekked across the city and back (in the rain!), went to work, and returned home around 10pm/11pm and my eyeshadow had not moved! In fact, it looked just as flawless and vibrant as when I first applied it! I could go on and on, but I think I've said enough....I think I should just let the following photos speak for themselves!

It's official...... I am a Makeup Geek fan.
What will I try next?
I have my eye on their blushes!

  2. You are such a beautiful girl but these photos, please forgive me, are not the most flattering ones and this is because of your camera and the perspective. I don't know which camera you use, probably your phone but the lens distorts a little bit your proportions. You could easily make way better photos by using natural light without flash and a tripod with a little bit distance to your face, preferably a little bit from above. Later on you could cut the image to concentrate on the face. Sorry for this comment, normally I don't critizise but I wish I could be there and take some pictures from you because you are so pretty!!!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Sarah. And don't worry, I appreciate constructive criticism! I took these photos with my Nikon P520. Most of my photos come out darker because not much natural light filters into my apartment, and later I have to edit them to make them look brighter. That's my first problem. And my second is that I do not have a tripod. I probably should invest in one so I can take better straight-on shots and close-ups for when I want to share a makeup look. Any other tips you recommend?

    2. I don't know your camera, is it a reflex or compact one? Ok, I just google it quickly. Ok, it's not a reflex but already a better compact camera I guess. My tip would be to use a higher ISO (maybe up to 800 would still be ok). Natural light is always better. A tripod would be the best, sure. But in case you don't have one you can still use a table or something like a tripod, so the camera doesn't move. and the next thing I would recommend is to use a focal length of maxium 27mm, better 50mm. Just give it a try ;)

    1. The color palette is so gorgeous and I feel it can look just as nice in autumn as it can in summer! I wish we had more makeup selection here. I know some of the malls in Capital have Chanel, Bobbi Brown and MAC stores, but they are so expensive here! There is an Argentine brand called Regina that I really like---they have great quality, pigmented eye shadows and blushes---but I'm not sure they have any sucursales in Salta. If not, it's definitely worth checking out next time you are in Buenos Aires! Thanks for your sweet comment! xx

    1. You should check out the Makeup Geek website! They have lots of single eyeshadows and just added blushes to their range a few months ago or so, and they are supposed to be great!

    1. Thank you for the sweet comment! Some of the shades are very warm-toned and definitely geared towards blue or green eyes, but I think the matte shades are very wearable for everyone, as well as the black glittery shade! xx
