Seeing beauty where you didn't think it existed...

It's easy to look at a flower....or the ocean...or a sunset and see it's beauty. But to find beauty in the unexpected, is to use your eyes & mind in a completely different way. For me, it's seeing something exactly for what it is, and learning to appreciate it that way.

A mirrored door seems kind of cheesy, but that's not how I saw it.

A rusted chain on a gate that must not have been opened in years...

A former hair salon that has been sealed away with a wall of bricks...

A deserted nightclub on a Sunday afternoon...a lonely plastic cup sitting at the entrance, and all that can be heard from within is the sweeping sound of a broom.

A cheery, hopeful mural contrasts greatly with it's surroundings, but people seem to give it just as much (or as little) attention as the abandoned buildings...

Today, challenge yourself to find beauty where you didn't think it existed before.
Obvious beauty can be seen by everyone, but beauty that has yet to be "uncovered" is something that can be just yours to enjoy, if you know the secret...
Keep your eyes open. Learn to appreciate all that is around you.

  3. You are so right, beauty can be everywhere and odd things can often be really beautiful. Maybe you like the photos of photographer William Eggleston? http://www.egglestontrust.com/ Actually I don't know if he sees beauty and the things he photographs but he is famous for taking pictures of random stuff :) I really love his pictures.

    1. Thank you! Sometimes I think we just rush through life, or get used to our daily routines, and we don't pay much attention to what is around us. I've always been very conscious of my surroundings, but I haven't necessarily always seen the beauty in things. Looking at your surroundings with an open mind & a positive attitude is going to make for a happier day, week, month etc. And who doesn't want that? It may not always be easy, but it is worth a try! xx
